Josie's Wolf Pack
|
JOSIE'S WOLF PACK is back! Epilepsy is the world?s most common, serious brain disorder, according to the World Health Organization. 1 in 10 people will suffer from a seizure in their lifetime. Seizures steal moments and memories, can change lives, impact development, affect learning and can even result in death. There is no cure. For Josie the Walk is very personal. The money raised by the Walk to End Epilepsy and for the other events organized by the Epilepsy Foundation of Greater LA has had a direct and profound effect on her. Josie suffered from 50-100 noticeable Absence Seizures per day before she was seen by the wonderful Pediatric Epileptologists at UCLA. That meant no swimming, no playing on play equipment, no riding bikes, skateboards, or roller skates, no taking a bath without someone in the room, no walking down the stairs or up the stairs without someone within arm's reach. It meant teasing and missed learning at school. All this WHILE she was under treatment with her former neurologist and taking tons of meds that had horrific side effects. How is she now? Great! Seizures are under control and her last report card was nothing but A's and A+'s. She's in an accelerated reading program at her school and is on track for the Gifted and Talented education program at her school. All of this has been possible because of the dollars that are generated by programs like the Walk to End Epilepsy. Join us in participating in the Walk to End Epilepsy on October 28, 2012 at the Rose Bowl Stadium in Pasadena. WALK WITH US!! If you can't, please donate.
